June 2012 Five Year Anniversary Social

Post date: Jun 19, 2012 7:06:44 AM

Five years ago in June, Latin Dance Factory was born =). It all started in June of 2007 when 2 couples first knocked on my door asking me about the ad that I placed on the Community Newsletter regarding Salsa lessons in Shadow Creek Ranch, Pearland, Tx. They were so excited about it because there was nothing like that in this area of town (or surrounding areas) unless you go to the metro-area Houston. At that time I still had furniture in my living room: a full sofa, ottoman, entertainment wall unit and a lounge chair that I would move around to make room. There was no website, I only taught one class a week, and my business card was a phone number written on a napkin. . . the good ol' times.

Five years later, we have more than grown. We have been very honored to serve a vast number of students whom are in love with latin dancing! We have taught and are teaching Latin Dance Lessons locally, around other cities states (Atlanta, Puerto Rico, Lubbock, Tx) and even internationally (Peru, Spain). We also got a chance to use new mediums of interactive teaching by being the first in creating apps (iPhone / iPad) that show case several dance styles and moves. Some of these apps were featured on the New York Times

Never in my life did I think this would be such a fulfilling reward! I have been very blessed to have met several wonderful, easy going, hard working, and passionate friends. To have discovered and nurtured talents that would allow me to teach, connect, and inspire people. I mean it is mind blowing to think where i was 5 years ago, and where I am now. It has been an amazing journey and I'm very truthfully thankful and appreciative of all and each one of you!

This Friday June 22nd, Latin Dance Factory is celebrating 5 years and I would love for you to come to our social and help me celebrate. Here is the plan

We are meeting at Shadow Creek Ranch's Beautiful Emerald Bay Club House with capacity of up to 50 people so we can dance from 7pm until midnight not just to DJ music featuring the hottest Salsa, Bachata, Cumbia and Merengue hits, but also to LIVE MUSIC! by Alex Y Su Conjunto whom will be playing live for 2 hours (starting at 9:00pm). We will teach not just one but two classes in Salsa and Bachata - by far the 2 most popular rhythms in town. Classes will include dips and tricks that you can do in the dance floor! (Class 1 starts at 8pm; Class 2 at 8:30pm). We will have refreshments and appetizers and of course great great fun company. You will be able to meet and greet other fellow students from all the other classes and levels. This is what I would like from each and everyone of you to help us make this event a success: a. Please RSVP to let us know that you are coming. b. Please bring anything that you like - potluck style to add to our refreshments and appetizers offerings. c. Please donate a minimum of $5 per person to help us cover some of the costs of renting a space to host this gathering and bringing live music to the event. d. At the end of the event, please give me a hand cleaning up the locale. I would greatly appreciate it! Guests are welcome! All ages are welcome! With or Without Partners are welcome! Two Left Feet, Two Right Feet, or One left / one right feet are welcome. Students that like to dance or students that just want to seat and watch are welcome... I mean everyone is welcome! Even my pet dog Mambo will be in attendance!

I would love to hire a birthday magician as well (lol)... but I think I'll save that for our 6th year anniversary. I hope you can make it, and even if we break the 50 people limit capacity, we will find a way to move the party into the parking lot if needed. I'm not joking. I would love every single one of you to come to celebrate. I mean it! If you already have plans, cancel them; if you are in another city or country, book your plane ticket now; if you are not feeling well, call in work sick for the next few days so you recover faster!!! =) What I'm trying to say is that I would love for you to come out and dance - especially our 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th generation students whom I have not seen in a while.
